When developing an electric vehicle it is essential to be able to evaluate the deformation in and around the battery box for different crash scenarios. Today only simple failure models are used, it is therefore of high interest to develop a more advanced model that would take into account all the stress modes.



The aim for this work is to develop a failure method for high strength steel in crash simulation. By starting out with research into the theory for failure and the different material failure keywords in LS-DYNA together with currently used data a method should be correlated and optimized. Test data for different crash load cases will be available and a general method to predict these as accurate as possible should be the objective.

The failure model should be user friendly with possibility to change related parameters to enhance the accuracy during the development phase
